Chapters 6-8 Discussion Questions
2.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement and why?
"Rest will do her more good than any medicine and help more to keep her well, and the housemother should rest some part of every day as soon as she is conscious of weariness; even fifteen minutes' relaxation will do her good, and after it she will go on with renewed energy." P. 98
3. After reading the following excerpt, please explain how you choose what goes on your daily "To-Do" list.
“Do the duty that lies nearest," but be sure it is a duty. You can recognize a duty because it is something that makes you and your family physically well, that develops them spiritually and morally, and does not take from you more than you are able to give. Your first duty is to make yourself so lovely that your family want to be with you. Nothing is worth while to you or them that does not help you to be dear to them. P.100
4. What do you think is the motivating factor behind this statement? In other words why do you think women do the following?
Of all the wastes about the household this is the one irreparable, and as the housewife is wasting it she seems to think she is doing something very commendable. She will save her pennies and waste her life by overwork and lack of sleep, and in the end she spends all she has tried to accumulate, in the vain effort to be well again. P. 91

For those who are reading with us for the first time, allow me to explain what the club is and how it works.
A "Blogger Book Club" is when blog friends get together and read the same book for a specified period of time. I begin by choosing a book that can be accessed free of charge on-line. I have posted a link to the book on by sidebar so that you can access from here.
Each Monday I will post a reading plan, which will indicate what chapters to read and by what date. On the following Friday I will then post all questions on my blog pertaining to the weeks reading. At that time you can either answer the assigned question/s or simply leave a comment regarding the weeks reading.
Anyone in the book club can respond to the questions. If you have a blog, questions should be answered on your own blog. After you have posted the answers to your questions copy the url of your post (not your blogs main page) and paste it into Mr. Linky along with your name.
Book club question will be listed every Friday and will look like this:
Example Book Club Questions:
1. (Name of Book) has given us a few perspectives on simple living, please share your ideas on simplicity?
2. What might be some of the benefits of living a simpler life?
Example Book Club Comments:
Sarah said: This is in response to question #1- One of my goals for this year is to live a more simpler life. What I have done is gotten rid of all but one of our televisions. We now only have one in the family room, so instead of every one heading to there rooms and watch T.V. we watch it together in the family room.
Rita said: Question 2- Peace of mind.
Sue said: I am enjoying the book club. I have met so many great new people.
The book that we are reading is called Thrift in the Household by Dora Morrell Hughes. A link to the book can always be found on my sidebar. Thanks for joining and happy reading.
